3 Must Have Free Fitness Apps

& How To Conserve Precious Data While Using Them.

Have you ever walked into a gym and wondered what the heck to do? Or perhaps you are on vacation, feeling a little bloated, dying for a workout, but don't know where to start. Maybe you had an awesome routine, but now life has changed, time for exercise has shrunk, or funds for the personal trainer have run dry.  We've all been there! 

Guess what!!! There is an app for that!!

You can Become more independent and consistent with your fitness and feel confident in your routine with a little help from your smart phone :)

Let's start with the person who wants to take their fitness outdoors.

 Seconds Pro.

 

The free version is all you need to get started. I like this one because it requires absolutely no data or wifi to run. You can also play your music with it if you like.

The free version does not allow you to save your timer, but it only takes seconds to set it up before your workout..

Seconds Pro is great because you can do everything from an outdoor HIIT workout, to an in home circuit training.

My favourite way to use this one is HIIT style for walking or jogging with my dog (Something I do daily) . I go faster for 2 minutes, and slower for 1 minute.

It really helps the user become in tune with how your body feels at different intensity levels instead of focusing on steps or pace.

Nike + RunClub

The free version is all you need to have a lot of fun with this one.

I'll admit, I've never jumped into the community in this app, but there are challenges you could join, a free running program (great for anyone from the beginner to seasoned pro) and motivational leaderboards with your friends.

I like that it's easy to use, and I can track how fast I am to compare non scale victories with myself. It's also kind of fun getting trophies, and motivational support inside the app.

It also has automatic pause, so when I am running with my dog, it pauses the time when we've stopped for her to perform her business.

The downside is that in order to track the speed and route, it uses data, not much, but depending on your plan, it could be a problem.

Now, for the person who wants a fully rounded program in their pocket :

Beachbody on Demand

It's no secret I love Beachbody programs! I've been using the DVD programs for years. Why? Because they give me a no excuse outlook on my health & fitness. Now it's pretty incredible how they've evolved through our digital fingertips.

I don't know about you, but I like being guided through my strength, and more intense workouts. It helps me feel like I'm "getting it done right", I have a cadence and rep speed to shoot for, and it keeps me on pace to get results for effort. If there is anything I don't have is time to waste with inefficient workouts...or trying to decide what I'm going to do. Just tell me what to do!, LOL!

One of the best features on the app is the ability to download the workouts right to the app. This means you can stream them in "airplane mode" . Now you can take it to the gym, on holidays, and more ! No excuses. No Data required.

With hundreds of workouts, and 7, 21, 30, 60, & 90 day plans to choose from, your fitness is covered. Your meal plan is covered. Your schedule is covered. You just have to show up. No room for boredom, or the dreaded plateau !

Beachbody on Demand offers a free 14 day Trial  and really, when one chooses the 12 month subscription, the cost is $8.25 per month.
