Why You Need To Write Your Book Right Now

After years of hemming and hawing, I finally sat down and got it done. Let me tell you, the journey of finding my voice and putting my stories onto paper wasn’t as daunting as I initially thought it would be.

So, how did I start? Well, I thought I'd never have time. I mean, between managing a work, family commitments, and just trying to keep up with everyday life, the idea of writing a book seemed overwhelming. But one morning, it clicked.

I remember coming home from a terrible breakup when I was 21, driven by the urge to share everything I learned from that relationship. I wanted to help other young women avoid the pitfalls I stumbled into. Even though that urgency stirred a fire in me, I went in circles for years. Why? Because I thought inspiration alone was enough.

Flash forward to 2021 - it wasn't inspiration but a structured plan that finally got me moving. I decided to write for 90 minutes every morning. No echo chambers, no isolation, just a steady daily routine. It wasn’t about finding time; it was about making time. I created a comfortable writing environment with my happy light, and before I knew it, the book practically wrote itself.

For me, one of the biggest revelations was letting go of perfectionism. My initial drafts were far from perfect, but I embraced the messy, raw ideas that poured out. I found that the first draft, when you just let things flow, is often the most soulful. You can always go back and polish things later.

Another crucial step was finding my unique writing style. When I started, I made the mistake of comparing my work to others, which only sapped my enthusiasm. I learned to approach my writing like a musician finding their own sound. Your experiences and voice are unique, and that’s where the magic lies.

The moment I stopped measuring myself against others, my words felt more authentic and fulfilling. It's like having a three-way conversation with yourself – processing different perspectives and allowing yourself to heal through the act of storytelling. Writing became a profound exercise in self-discovery. It was less about finishing a book and more about understanding myself better.

So, if you’ve been putting off writing your story, I encourage you to just start. Write like no one’s watching, and let your authentic voice shine. Whether it’s 15 minutes a day or, like me, 90 minutes in the morning, every bit counts.

Let’s keep the timeless art of storytelling alive for generations to come.

Happy writing!
